Colour is my primary creative passion; in nature and the vibrant modern world around me. I express my ideas using anodised aluminium combined with silver to create beautiful contemporary jewellery.
I use a technique of blending and applying dyes freehand to the surface of aluminium in a wash effect which creates infinite palettes; from subtle pale greys to intense blues, greens and vibrant pinks. Once the dye is sealed into the surface, textural patterns are applied in various ways and with the polka dot range, little drill holes to the surface expose the silvery aluminium underneath the colour. Nature has been a strong influence as demonstrated by the oxalis range; the earrings directly reflect the moth like movement of the purple oxalis plant petals when they fold up at night and the trefoil shape of the necklace when they open during the day.
Movement and vibrancy are an intrinsic part of the jewellery, created by clusters of small shapes such as folded and domed leaves and circles linked together with polished silver. The necklaces, pendants and earrings are light and easy to wear, aluminium and silver being a perfect marriage for beautifully comfortable, light-weight jewellery.
